Flowers

Author: Britt  //  Category: Uncategorized

Flowers are a fun thing to take pictures of. Since there are many different types and colors of flowers, you’ll never get bored. You just gotta be a little creative in how you take the pictures though. Just taking a picture of a flower straight on can be pretty boring…mix it up some. Go close, get down to their level, find some in the shade, or in the sunshine…whatever! Just be creative with how to take the photo. Here are a couple that I took all in the same day! It helped to be at a garden so I could find all these flowers…but still, all these different types of flowers in the same place on the same day, that’s pretty cool. Now these aren’t my favorite photos of mine of flowers that I’ve taken…but they are flowers, and they were pretty.

This one isn’t all that beautiful. It’s kind of crinkley, but I think it adds character to the photo. It’s still not my favorite, but hey, I might as well show the photo, it’s not getting much use just sitting in my computer.

This one is pretty cool though I think. With the dew drops and the type of flower it is. I could look up what kind it is, but I don’t have the time at the moment, sorry.

This one looks similar to the previous photo. I do believe it is a different type of flower though. For one thing the color is different, but that doesn’t really mean anything because there are all different colors within the same type of flower.

I like this one. It’s kind of hard to tell that it’s a flower because I took this photo from below and the sun is actually shining through the petals…but take a close look and you can tell. :)

Don’t ask me why I like this one…I just do. And I like it a lot. Sure if the lighting were different it would be a better picture. I just really like this one though, probably because it’s different from the rest.

Well, I hope you enjoy them and that it inspires you to go out with your camera and find a few good flowers to take pictures of.

Have a blessed day! :D

No memory card…

Author: Britt  //  Category: Uncategorized

Hmmm….well, I have no clue what to blog about today. I’ve been out of town for about a week so I haven’t had time to blog the past few day. On the trip, I got out my camera…to find that I had left my memory card at home!!! AHHH! So you can imagine how I felt…yeah, it totally stunk. I was pretty upset at myself for leaving it. So I have no pictures from my trip. I did look through some of my old pictures from previous trips. So I thought I’d post one up :). I would truly love any comments about it, to let me know what you think of it.

So…..What do you think?

Have a blessed day!

Take your camera everywhere!

Author: Britt  //  Category: Uncategorized

Ok, so one thing I have learned that I don’t always follow is: Take your camera with you wherever you go!

I’ve left my camera at home many times though, and most of the time, I regret it. Who knows what I may have missed in not taking my camera with me. It could’ve been the most beautiful picture the world has ever seen. So always, always, take your camera with you wherever you go…it’s important.

I can’t imagine how I would’ve felt if I hadn’t taken my camera to the beach on this day. Boy would I have been angry at myself, regreted this my entire life.

Just look at that sunset!!! Amazing isn’t it? I did not editing to those pictures. Those are the real colors of the sunset. They were truly that vibrant and beautiful! Can you imagine how I would have felt if I’d of missed this opportunity?!

God painted a wonderful sunset that day. He probably knew I would be there to take those wonderful pictures so I could show how marvelous He is in creating things!

I hope you enjoyed those pictures, because I know I certainly do. Have a blessed day! :)

I finally did some work on a photo! Hooray! I added words and effects to those words. I’d really like any opinions on it…so feel free to comment :). I’d really appreciate them.

So what do you think?

I personally like it…but then again that’s just me ;).

I hope you enjoy it. Have a blessed day! :D

More quotes…

Author: Britt  //  Category: Uncategorized

Today’s been a lazy day, so I haven’t done much of anything related to photography. So of course, more photography quotes! YAY! ;)

“There are no rules for good photographs, there are only good photographs.”
- Ansel Adams

“As I have practiced it, photography produces pleasure by simplicity. I see something special and show it to the camera. A picture is produced. The moment is held until someone sees it. Then it is theirs.”
- Sam Abell

“It takes a lot of imagination to be a good photographer. You need less imagination to be a painter, because you can invent things. But in photography everything is so ordinary; it takes a lot of looking before you learn to see the ordinary.”
- David Bailey

I have not the energy to give my opinion or thoughts on these quotes except that I like them :). So, you can give me your opinion or thoughts on them, I’d like to see someone else’s thoughts.

Have a blessed day! :D

Quote…

Author: Britt  //  Category: Uncategorized

Ok, so since I really couldn’t think of anything to blog about today…I just thought I’d look up some photography quotes. There’s lots of them out there, and some really good ones.

I like this quote a lot:

“To me, photography is an art of observation. It’s about finding something interesting in an ordinary place… I’ve found it has little to do with the things you see and everything to do with the way you see them.”
Elliot Erwitt

Personally, I agree with Mr. Erwitt. This quote also, to me, is saying that people see things differently. So to one person, a photo may look completely dumb and not make any sense, while to another it may be the most beautiful picture they have ever seen. I say this just kind of as a motivation for whoever reads this, because you should take pictures even if another person tells you they aren’t good…because it is just the way you see something…and it doesn’t matter what someone else may think or say about it, just take pictures. Photography is different to everyone, so just take pictures, because each person’s view is different, and what you can see, I may not be able to.

Have a blessed day! :)

A day in the park

Author: Britt  //  Category: Uncategorized

Parks are really fun places to take pictures. I was at a park a few days ago and I did have a chance to take some photos of random things. Statues, geese, the landscape, trees, etc. I realize now that a park is one of my favorite places to take pictures, especially on a beautiful clear day.

This next photo is of a statue of children holding hands and skipping together. I don’t know why I chose to take the picture from this particular angle, but I think it turned out rather interesting and I like it.

There were tons of ducks and geese to take pictures of at this particular park. They had many canadian geese, so when I saw some of them starting to get out of the small pond, I took the opportunity to take this photo. The grass and water make for a nice background, and add even more beauty to the scene.

I took this next photo of a goose who was showing off to the people around her. She was dipping her head into the water and pulling it out while curling her neck. She did this many times, and as you may be able to tell from the picture, she had just pulled her head out of the water.

I actually am surprised at how well this next photo turned out. I was standing right below a tree and I had to zoom in with my camera to get this shot because the bloom was about a yard above my head, and it was also hard to find the bloom in the midst of all of the branches, but I eventually found it and took the picture. This was my first and only attempt, so I am quite pleased with how it turned out, although I would have liked to take a few more pictures to get an even better shot.

I hope you’ve enjoyed them. :)
Have a blessed day!

Blogging

Author: Britt  //  Category: Uncategorized

Wow, once again I have allowed myself to forget about this photography blog. What can keep me motivated to take pictures? And to blog about them? Hmm…this is a perplexing thing that requires some thought. I think I have become discouraged because the digital camera that I had bought turned out to not be such a good one after all. I would like a digital SLR but that requires quite a bit of money and if I don’t even know how to use an SLR then that doesn’t solve much. I should do some research on different types of cameras and SLRs. So let this be a lesson to you, make sure the camera you are looking into buying, is the camera that will work for what you will need to use it for. Do quite a bit of research before buying into it. Well, that’s all for today…hopefully I will keep up on this…

Disney World

“Of all of our inventions for mass communication, pictures still speak the most universally understood language.”
-Walt Disney

Sorry for the delay in blogging once again. I was away from a computer for about 5 days. I did manage to take a couple pictures on my trip. My family and I went to Disney World. What a wonderful place! Walt Disney is one of my favorite people, and Disney World is my favorite place to go. The always seem to have so many things to take pictures of. Of course, most of my photos that I took at Disney World were personal family photos, but there were still a few that I took that didn’t have my family members in them.

Here are just a few of them…

Disney World always has wonderful flowers. This may not be the best photograph of flowers…I prefer a more dramatic feel and closer pictures for flowers, but I didn’t have much time to stop and take pictures.

I enjoyed this photo because it has a little humor mixed in with the photo. A huge squirrel on top of a castle! Mickey looks like he’s ready to jump to escape the giant!

This picture is also rather entertaining. A live lizard with a bunch of plastic people and train.

Those aren’t very professional looking photographs, but they do have their own unique qualities. :) I hope you enjoy them, like I enjoyed taking them.

Winter…

Author: Britt  //  Category: Uncategorized

AHHH! I’ve got to remember to keep blogging, geez.

Ok, so I took a few pictures today of my animals. That’s pretty much it…

To me winter time is the worst time to take pictures…why? Because everything is so dead and hazy, ack! Unless you live in a tropical area, winter time can be pretty boring when it comes to picture taking…of course, when it snows….that’s a WAY different story. The snow is an awesome sight, taking a photo of it however may not be quite so amazing. I personally have not had the experience of taking a snow photo, but hopefully I will have that chance this year. I will let you know how it goes ;). For now however, here are the photos I took today…

This picture is very cute…there’s nothing like a dog and cat laying side by side that says adorable. However, do you notice the dead grass, and the dead bush next to the animals? Ahh, that messes up the cuteness of the photo…well, sort of. But my point is, that it’s quite hard to get a decent picture in the dead of winter when the sun isn’t shining very well. But…thanks to my photo editing program, I can make the picture different without editing it so much that it looks fake…

See? All I did was change it to black and white. It takes away from the deadness and adds a dramatic effect to it don’t you think? Personally I love it in black and white, looks like it should be on a black and white calendar to me :D.

Here’s my next set of photos…

Now, this may not have to do with the fact that it’s winter outside, but this picture really doesn’t have much color…it’s not the greatest picture in the world but the kitty sure is cute. I didn’t do much to this next picture because I was just demonstrating how wonderful digital photo editing can be…

All I did was add a quick little frame around it…sure it’s not the best, but it does add to the photo. Ah the joys of photo editing :P.

I didn’t do much to these next two photos either, but there’s a big difference in how they look from each other.

This is not such a bad picture by itself, but I can change it up a bit by just a few clicks of my mouse and viola!…

A new look and feel :).

Those are just a few examples of how you can manipulate your digital photos. Isn’t digital photography awesome?!?
