Fill the Frame

Author: Britt  //  Category: Uncategorized

Ok, so one thing I try to do almost all the time when taking pictures of any kind is that I try to fill the frame. Which means to make sure the subject is in the center of your photograph and has nothing else around it that is too distracting. Also, if by any chance I am unable to fill the frame, I tend to crop my photos in my photo editing program so that there aren’t as many distracting things around the subject I was trying to photograph. Hmm…let’s see if I can give an example photograph. Ah ha, got one…it’s not a great photograph by any means. It’s okay, but not my favorite…but it’ll do great in an example.

As you can see…there is a lot distracting from the horses in this photo. The road, the cars, the fence, etc. So in order to make the photo a little better, I cropped out most of that and in this next photo you can see what I mean. The focus is now on the horses, how it’s meant to be. I filled the frame…well, I used my computer to do that and not my camera, but it still gives the same effect.

So there you have it. A great tip that every photographer should follow :) .

Flowers

Flowers are a fun thing to take pictures of. Since there are many different types and colors of flowers, you’ll never get bored. You just gotta be a little creative in how you take the pictures though. Just taking a picture of a flower straight on can be pretty boring…mix it up some. Go close, get down to their level, find some in the shade, or in the sunshine…whatever! Just be creative with how to take the photo. Here are a couple that I took all in the same day! It helped to be at a garden so I could find all these flowers…but still, all these different types of flowers in the same place on the same day, that’s pretty cool. Now these aren’t my favorite photos of mine of flowers that I’ve taken…but they are flowers, and they were pretty.

This one isn’t all that beautiful. It’s kind of crinkley, but I think it adds character to the photo. It’s still not my favorite, but hey, I might as well show the photo, it’s not getting much use just sitting in my computer.

This one is pretty cool though I think. With the dew drops and the type of flower it is. I could look up what kind it is, but I don’t have the time at the moment, sorry.

This one looks similar to the previous photo. I do believe it is a different type of flower though. For one thing the color is different, but that doesn’t really mean anything because there are all different colors within the same type of flower.

I like this one. It’s kind of hard to tell that it’s a flower because I took this photo from below and the sun is actually shining through the petals…but take a close look and you can tell. :)

Don’t ask me why I like this one…I just do. And I like it a lot. Sure if the lighting were different it would be a better picture. I just really like this one though, probably because it’s different from the rest.

Well, I hope you enjoy them and that it inspires you to go out with your camera and find a few good flowers to take pictures of.

Have a blessed day! :D

No memory card…

Hmmm….well, I have no clue what to blog about today. I’ve been out of town for about a week so I haven’t had time to blog the past few day. On the trip, I got out my camera…to find that I had left my memory card at home!!! AHHH! So you can imagine how I felt…yeah, it totally stunk. I was pretty upset at myself for leaving it. So I have no pictures from my trip. I did look through some of my old pictures from previous trips. So I thought I’d post one up :) . I would truly love any comments about it, to let me know what you think of it.

So…..What do you think?

Have a blessed day!

Take your camera everywhere!

Ok, so one thing I have learned that I don’t always follow is: Take your camera with you wherever you go!

I’ve left my camera at home many times though, and most of the time, I regret it. Who knows what I may have missed in not taking my camera with me. It could’ve been the most beautiful picture the world has ever seen. So always, always, take your camera with you wherever you go…it’s important.

I can’t imagine how I would’ve felt if I hadn’t taken my camera to the beach on this day. Boy would I have been angry at myself, regreted this my entire life.

Just look at that sunset!!! Amazing isn’t it? I did not editing to those pictures. Those are the real colors of the sunset. They were truly that vibrant and beautiful! Can you imagine how I would have felt if I’d of missed this opportunity?!

God painted a wonderful sunset that day. He probably knew I would be there to take those wonderful pictures so I could show how marvelous He is in creating things!

I hope you enjoyed those pictures, because I know I certainly do. Have a blessed day! :)

More quotes…

Author: Britt  //  Category: Uncategorized

Today’s been a lazy day, so I haven’t done much of anything related to photography. So of course, more photography quotes! YAY! ;)

“There are no rules for good photographs, there are only good photographs.”
- Ansel Adams

“As I have practiced it, photography produces pleasure by simplicity. I see something special and show it to the camera. A picture is produced. The moment is held until someone sees it. Then it is theirs.”
- Sam Abell

“It takes a lot of imagination to be a good photographer. You need less imagination to be a painter, because you can invent things. But in photography everything is so ordinary; it takes a lot of looking before you learn to see the ordinary.”
- David Bailey

I have not the energy to give my opinion or thoughts on these quotes except that I like them :) . So, you can give me your opinion or thoughts on them, I’d like to see someone else’s thoughts.

Have a blessed day! :D
